The history of Domaine Méo-Camuzet
Méo-Camuzet, a family estate in Burgundy
Méo Camuzet is a family estate located in Burgundy. For several generations, the Camuzet family has been cultivating vines and producing quality wines. Today, the estate boasts several hectares of vines and produces wines of exceptional quality. Etienne Camuzet handed over the reins to his nephew Jean Méo, who in turn handed it over in 1984 to his son Jean-Nicolas, who continues the centuries-old tradition of this estate. Jean Méo ran the estate alongside major French companies, relying on four tenant farmers, including a certain great winemaker named Henri Jayer. Jean Méo will leave an indelible mark on future generations and the estate's wines.
Geographical location of Domaine Méo-Camuzet
Domaine Méo-Camuzet, one of the greatest estates on the Côte de Nuits
Domaine Méo-Camuzet, located in the Côte de Nuits, is one of the largest estates in Burgundy's most famous wine-growing region. The domaine's wines are world-renowned, and can be enjoyed at all the finest tables. Jean Nicolas Méo is also a winemaker in Oregon.
Cros Parantoux, a mythical vineyard
Cros Parantoux is a mythical vineyard! From an almost uncultivated parcel with good eastern exposure but a difficult situation to exploit, one man turned it into a myth: Henri Jayer, who extracted from this terroir one of Vosne Romanée's most legendary wines to this day. Le Cros Parentoux is a steep, stony parcel of land. The Jayer family still owns most of the appellation of this Vosne Romanée 1er cru, but the domaine is delighted to be able to work 30 ares. Domaine Méo-Camuzet's smallest cuvée, but by far its most prestigious!
Domaine Méo-Camuzet terroir and climate
The Domaine Méo-Camuzet, located in Burgundy, benefits from a diversified terroir with limestone, clay and stony soils, as well as variable exposure depending on the plot, often favoring a southeast orientation for better ripening. The region's continental climate, characterized by hot summers and cold winters, is modulated by these terroir features, contributing to the complexity and quality of the wines produced, offering unique expressions of each vineyard.
#WINES FROM THE DOMAIN: Appellations and Cuvées

This geographical spread enables the domaine to cultivate a diversity of grape varieties and terroirs, with each appellation bringing its own specificity and unique character to the wines produced. This meticulous approach and mastery of multiple terroirs give Domaine Méo-Camuzet wines a varied palette of flavors and an authentic expression of the Burgundian terroir.

The Vosne Romanée appellationdomaine Meo Camuzet is located in the Côte de Nuits, in the commune of Vosne-Romanée. It produces mainly red wine from the Pinot Noir grape variety. Vosne-Romanée is one of Burgundy's most famous wines. It is the domaine's flagship appellation. The Domaine produces a Vosne Romanée village wine and the legendary Premier Cru wines Les Chaumes, Aux Brulées and the mythical Cros Parentoux.
The Fixin appellation for several generations, the Camuzet family has been attached to Fixin. Meo Camuzet's vines are planted on the best terroirs of the Les Herbeaux climate. They produce red wines from Pinot Noir, as well as white wines from Chardonnay. Fixin 1er cru Clos du Chapitre is one of the estate's illustrious wines, and a reference to Fixin 1er cru.
Gevrey-Chambertin Méo-Camuzet is a red wine produced by Domaine Méo-Camuzet, which is located in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. This Gevrey-Chambertin is a powerful wine with morello cherry aromas and a strong character.
The wine of Marsannay from Domaine Méo-Camuzet brings a freshness to tasting, with a very present aroma and consistency, while retaining perfect balance and extreme drinkability. A few years' bottle ageing will give it an extra dimension. The plots are located in Couchey in the "Varangée" and "Récilles" districts.
This wine from Nuits-Saint-Georges wilder than its illustrious neighbor Vosne Romanée, is still attached to Vosne Romanée by its borders: les Boudots is in fact the northernmost appellation of Nuits Saint Georges and a neighboring parcel of Vosne Romanée 1er Cru les Malconsorts. The size of Méo-Camuzet's Les Boudots parcel is one hectare. A wine that resembles... Vosne Romanée: sustained aromas and structured texture, more elegance than Nuits Saint Georges' reputation for austerity. Aged in barrel, the 1er cru Boudots will always show the vintage at its best. The addition of new barrels, in particular from the fine-grained Tronçais forest, is fully supported and will give it an additional straightness. The proportion of older barrels is respected to avoid denaturing the wine. Aeration will bring out the fullness of the wine for a harmonious whole.
Chambolle Musigny les Feusselottes is a fine wine from the commune of Chambolle-Musigny in the Côte-d'Or department of Burgundy. It produces mainly red wine from pinot noir grapes. Tannins are slightly present, acidity adds freshness, and aromas of cherry, raspberry and a hint of licorice add complexity. Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Les Cras is one of the great Chambolle wines.
- Vosne Romanée 1er cru aux Brulées Méo Camuzetat the foot of Richebourg, this exceptional terroir lies at the end of the slope at the entrance to the combe, giving it a certain freshness. A powerful wine with spicy notes, true to the Vosne terroir. A well-balanced wine with relative acidity and a complex finish.
- Vosne Romanée 1er cru Chaumes Méo Camuzetmore seductive than the other premier crus, Les Brulées and Cros Parantoux, it stands out for its elegant tannins and Vosne Romannée typicity. Situated at the foot of La Tâche and Les Malconsort, the soil is shallow and clayey.
Corton Les Perrières Méo-Camuzet is a red Grand Cru characterized by one of the facets of Pinot Noir: present tannins that need time to reach fullness. Without heaviness, the Corton Perrieres wine is nonetheless elegant, with its many round, pink pebbles and deep soil. Perrieres takes its name from the "stones" that characterize this Corton Perrières. A wine that the Méo family has succeeded in sublimating. Corton Clos Rognet and Corton La Vigne au Saint are also two of Domaine Meo Camuzet's grand cru Corton wines.
Clos de Vougeot is a grand cru of the Côte de Nuits, located in the commune of Vougeot. It is planted with Pinot Noir grapes. Clos de Vougeot is one of Burgundy's most famous grands crus. Domaine Méo-Camuzet is fortunate to be located at the foot of the Chateau du Clos de Vougeot at the top of the appellation. A large parcel of almost 3 ha. A wine that expresses refined, supple aromas on the palate, with an elegant texture.
Echezeaux Méo-Camuzet is a Côte de Nuits Grand Cru Classé. It is an appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) created in 1936. The Echezeaux Méo-Camuzet vineyard is planted mainly with Pinot Noir.
Richebourg Méo-Camuzet is a red wine produced in the commune of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits region. Richebourg is a grand cru classified in 1936 and is planted mainly with pinot noir.
